The Exploitation of Workers in Call Centers

In call centers in the Philippines and other countries, workers struggle with low wages, lack of job security, unsafe work conditions, and wage theft. They also face verbal abuse from callers.

In addition, many governments prevent call center workers from joining unions to organize with other workers to stand up for their grievances. In the Philippines, for instance, labor organizers have been harassed or killed for trying to organize workers.

In both the Philippines and countries like El Salvador, workers often have to leave their college studies because their work in call centers consume so much of their time.
