Loved to Loathed Club

I live in MAGA country, but every day, as Trump signs more and more unpopular executive orders, fires thousand, and takes an ax to social security, I see more of my neighbors, friends, and family quietly backing away from him. People who once made Trump and MAGA their whole identity are taking down their Trump flags, never posting about him, leaving their MAGA hats in the closet, and avoiding conversations about him altogether.

It reminds me a lot of what happened with George W. Bush. I remember when my neighbors and family had Bush cutouts in their cars, kept his campaign signs up for years, and talked about him at church, the store, and family gatherings. But as his presidency went downhill and his policies became less popular, they started removing everything and acting like they had never really supported him. By the time the Tea Party movement came around, many of them even claimed they had always disliked Bush.

I have no doubt the same thing will happen with Trump and his movement.
