The Killing of Lawyers in the Philippines
The Philippines is one of the most dangerous places for lawyers.
There have been 222 lawyers killed since 1972, with 35 surviving attacks.
During former President Rodrigo Duterte's term, from 2016 to 2022, 59 lawyers were killed.
Three lawyers have been killed during Bongbong Marcos's first year as President of the Philippines.
Many of these lawyers have been killed for defending human rights activists against charges by military forces.
