Israel, Hamas and "An Eye For An Eye Leaves Everyone Blind"

The saying "An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind" applies to the current conflict in Gaza. The situation in Gaza is a continuation of a conflict where Hamas and the right wing Netanyahu government provoke each other in an escalating cycle of violence that only leads to more killings of innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives.

Hamas is a theocratic reactionary group that has suppressed women's and LGBTQIA+ rights and shut down dissent. They shut down attempts by Palestinians who try nonviolent civil disobedience campaigns against the Israeli blockade, thus leaving the Palestinians violent terrorist acts as the only means of protest.

In order for Benjamin Netanyahu to gain power in the current Israeli government, he had to cobble a coalition of extremist right wingers and settlers who want a greater Israel from the river to the sea and want to push Palestinians to ever worsening conditions of poverty and disenfranchisement. Netanyahu is beholden to these right wing extremists to sabotage any attempts at concessions to Palestinians and want to increase settlements in the West Bank and annex Gaza.

Thanks Enrico.

Hugo, I'm sorry you don't like my cartoon. My cartoons have been just as critical of the Israelis indiscriminately killing innocent Palestinians as my cartoons have been critical of Hamas killing innocent Israelis.

I think it's possible to support Palestinians while opposing Hamas and other militant groups. Just as I support Israelis while opposing Netanyahu and the right wing settlement movement. I am horrified at both Hamas and Netanyahu.
