Andrea Arroyo is a Mexican-born, New York-based artist working in a variety of media. Her artwork has been published extensively including in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Nation, The Manhattan Times and The International Herald Tribune. Awards include: First Prize, United Nations/Ranan Lurie International Political Cartoon Award, Political Satire Award, International Biennial of Graphic Humour, Cuba, Global Citizen Award Artist, Official Artist of the Latin Grammy, Groundbreaking Latina in the Arts, Outstanding Woman of New York, and multiple awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, the Puffin Foundation and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Ms. Arroyo is also an activist, speaker and curator, her project “Unnatural Election, Artists Respond to the US Presidential Election” features over 300 international artists, she also curates various projects for publications, galleries and cultural institutions. Her most recent exhibition in New York City was titled “Andrea Arroyo - EmPOWER-Images for Social Justice”.
