VAR is the acronym by which Video Assistant Referee Assistance is known. It is a system implemented by FIFA in order to eliminate the different arbitration errors, and it is used in some competitions around the globe. The first test was in the 2016 Club World Cup.
The system consists of a series of cameras whose images are evaluated in a room with monitors by FIFA referees who determine the decision to be made by the main referee of a match.
