The fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024 has drawn attention to his controversial ties with Ayatollah Khamenei. A manipulated photo of their 2019 meeting in Tehran, where Khamenei’s height was exaggerated, became a symbol of propaganda in authoritarian regimes. This dynamic is reflected in my cartoon, “Tango of Death,” highlighting the intertwined fates of these two dictators.
