Hundreds of tourists queued on Friday to scale the world-famous Uluru, previously known as Ayers Rock, a 348-metre high sandstone monolith in central Australia, for the final time before Parks Australia permanently closed the rock to climbers 34 years after the government officially returned the site to its traditional indigenous owners.
