The Eerie Similarities of the Circumstances Surrounding the Reichstag Fire and Capitol Hill Riot

On 27 February 1933 the Reichstag building, home to the German parliament was firebombed, precisely four weeks after Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. Hitler's government attributed the firebombing to political opponents although many believe Hitler's government itself plotted the arson attack. The Nazi Party used the fire as a pretext to claim that Hitler's political opponents were plotting against his government, which made the fire pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

On 6 January 2021 the US Capitol building was stormed by rioters, precisely 2 weeks before Joe Biden was sworn in as the winner of a presidential election shrouded with suspicion of widespread voter fraud. Biden's government attributed the riot to its political opponents, although many believe Biden's government with assistance from the media plotted the chaos in an attempt to cast blame on and destroy political opposition to the incoming administration.
