This week, Trump pardoned one of the most horrific excuses for a sherriff in the US: Joe Arpaio, proprietor of the open-air concentration camp in Arizona, convicted of illegally profiling Latin immigrants for arrest. Trump's timing was impeccable -- handing down the pardon just as Hurricane Harvey came ashore in Texas at 125mph, with thousands evacuating inland, including many immigrants. Adding insult to injury the Border Patrol kept their checkpoints open to demand immigrants' papers, leaving "illegal" immigrants in danger of arrest.
