2 months 3 weeksGRETHEN took back his brushes and reassumed his drawing activity in 2022 after a break of over a decade dedicated to his job as a therapeutic counselor.
Since 2022 he has been published, broadcasted on TV and was invited in several exhibitions.
Since 2023, he is a member of Cartooning for Peace.
in his own words:
"I was born in Luxembourg in the mid-1970s. Child of the economic 'miracle', I grew up straddling the gap between the dying steel industry and the emerging Luxembourg banking industry; from the blast furnaces of my grandparents, to the immersion into the guts of the banking system, where my father, a brilliant and offbeat computer programmer, developed the banking software of the very beginnings. So I spent part of my childhood in offices, trying to figure out the entanglements of the world.
As a self-taught draughtsman, at 18 I published "Int", at the time one of the few comics published in my mother tongue. Being very sensitive to the “news”, I proposed my drawings to the Tageblatt, a Luxembourg daily newspaper, which published them regularly.
At the time when my career as an artist and cartoonist seemed to be on track, I left everything behind and went first to Brittany, to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, then to South America, to loose myself in the Andes.
Then I discovered the art of systemic constellation, a therapeutic method which, in an intuitive way, aims to understand the functioning of human systems (family system, company management...) Always this obsession to understand the workings, I will thus made it my job.
It is perhaps this same obstinacy, and a need to digest the world, that leads me today to resume my activity in press drawings : to give a synthetic image of the systems that set up social, political and human situations."
