MONSANTO

Monsanto, founded in 1901 by John Francis Queeny, was an American multinational specialized in agrochemicals and agricultural biotechnology. It produced controversial products such as the insecticide DDT, PCBs and Agent Orange, generating environmental and health concerns. In 2018, Germany's Bayer acquired Monsanto for $63.5 billion. Subsequently, Bayer faced litigation related to legacy products, including cases in 2025 where it was ordered to pay significant damages associated with Roundup herbicide and PCB exposure at a school.
