The Media Still Doesn't Know How to Cover Trump
The media still can’t figure out how to cover Trump. In recent weeks, Trump has advocated for extrajudicial killings of shoplifters and death to the highest military officer in the country, encouraged supporters to “go after” NY Atty. Gen. Leticia James, told the courts “You come after me, I come after you,” amid other increasingly violent and threatening rhetoric. The media have not given this much coverage, as 1.) they are wary that exposing Trump’s authoritarian behavior only seems to give him oxygen, and 2.) after eight years of covering Trump, they wonder: is it even news anymore when a presidential front-runner advocates extrajudicial killings?
