Today, April 25th, Portugal celebrates its democracy anniversary amid a far-right surge. As the Portuguese commemorate the 50 years of the almost-bloodless military coup that became known as the Carnation Revolution and ended almost 50 years of dictatorial rule, right-wing extremism is rebounding following a general election last month, in which the anti-immigration, populist Chega came out as the third-largest political party in the country
