I really thought the recent support by an NBA basketball team manager for the Hong Kong protesters would turn into an avalanche of support from other teams and the NBA itself, and then lead to other sporting bodies expressing their disgust for China's appalling human rights record.
But no... the avalanche of support never happened and the NBA has sold its soul to protect its brand in China at the expense of human rights.
