Case 002/02 Evidentiary Hearings Commence

Case 002/02 will be the second trial where additional charges against Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan from the Closing Order will be heard. The second trial proceeds from the verdict of Case 002/01, where both accused were sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity committed during two population movements, from Phnom Penh and elsewhere, as well as the executions of Lon Nol soldiers at Tuol Po Chrey. Case 002/02 addresses the charges related to genocide, forced marriages and rape nationwide, internal purges, security centres, cooperatives.
