The action group Pussy Riot in Moscow
On October 7, the Pussy Riot group timed a rally against state homophobia to coincide with the birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Activists hung rainbow flags on the buildings of the FSB, the presidential administration, the Supreme court, the Basmanny police Department and the Ministry of culture.
Participants of the action demanded to investigate the murders and kidnappings of gays, lesbians, transgender and queer people in Chechnya, stop the persecution of activists and organizations that help the LGBTQ community, legalize same-sex partnerships, and repeal the current law on the promotion of so-called non-traditional sexual relations among minors.
