Yeah, but is anyone actually going to vote for my work

Looking back over Time covers in their online Archive ...
1 - In an American election year, the winning candidate is often chosen as the Person of the Year (1932,48,,61,64,76,80,92,2000,04,08,12,16,20), so there's nothing new there.
2 - Barbara, I would be interested to know what "ALL the [mask] covers" that you're talking about are. Because, so far, I have only found these ones before this year - 1988 (smoking), 1998 (hospitals), 2003 (SARS) and 2014 (Ebola). (Also 2005 if you include Darth Vader.) Admittedly, not all the covers are online yet but a large proportion are, but 4 covers over 30+ years is hardly an agenda.

You’re both idiots. Time also awarded the title to Chump Trump and Bush too. Were they right then but wrong now?

Pretty silly. Tell me TIME does not have an agenda. I just pulled up old Time covers from my childhood which were predicting the rise of China in this century. And ALL the covers over the years about face masks. Time is so into that agenda loop! Kinda like, alas, the Nobel Prize has become. A political push.
