Tunisia's interior ministry this week announced the arrest of 15 people heading for European shores in boats, stating that nine of them were considered by police to be "Salafists", or fundamentalist Muslims.
While denying that the nine were
"terrorists", a Tunisian government official said that the Salafist movement is seen by authorities as a potential breeding ground for Islamic terrorism.
