Trapping Future Generations In An Endless Cycle Of Violence and War

Benjamin Netanyahu, Yahya Sinwar and leaders of Hezbollah and Iran are trapping Israelis, Palestinians, Lebanese and others in a cycle of violence and war.

I was inspired to do this cartoon after reading 2 articles.

One is an article by Helen Benedict for The Nation Magazine titled "What Happens When Bereaved Israelis and Palestinians Share Their Pain?" (https://www.thenation.com/article/world/israel-palestine-reconciliation…).

I was especially moved by a quote from Palestinian Arab Aramin: "The tears shed by a bereaved Palestinian mother are no different from those of a grieving Israeli mother."

The other article is by Ben Burgis for Jacobin Magazine titled "One Year After 10/7, Israel's Eye-For-An Eye Logic Must End" (https://jacobin.com/2024/10/one-year-after-10-7-israels-eye-for-an-eye-…).

Burgis wrote: "At a certain point, however, all parties involved must stop using past bloodshed to justify future bloodshed. Too many lives are at stake to play this game in perpetuity...

...The twisted moral logic of slaughtering tens of thousands to avenge hundreds is pulling the region deeper and deeper into a war whose consequences could be unthinkable. It all needs to stop."
