Two days before the anniversary of the 1905 law on the separation of Church and State, Emmanuel Macron creates controversy by letting the Chief Rabbi of France Haïm Korsia ignite the first candle of the candelabra for Hanouka in the village hall of the Élysée.

With the law of 1095 establishing the separation of Church and State, the French Republic does not recognize, employ or subsidize any religion. The fact that Emmanuel Macron lets the chief rabbi of France Haïm Korsia light the first candle of the candelabra for Hanouka in the village hall of the Élysée therefore raises questions. Why not celebrate other religions, for example? To celebrate just one is to highlight it. There is therefore no longer any separation of Church and state :)
I am confused. A separation of Church and State is what allows a Hanukkia to be able to be lit in France.
