Vance admitted that he lied about eating pets: "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do." Also, the only evidence was a woman who tweeted that a cat was missing and suspected immigrants, but she posted a few days later that she found the cat. There is no evidence that Haitians or any immigrant group is stealing and eating cats or any other pet in Springfield or in any other city. Hunting wild animals is a different matter. I have friends who hunt and fish. In rural areas, people might hunt wild squirrels and rabbits. Depending on the state, hunting wild birds is legal as long as the bird isn't a species protected under federal law.
