The French president, Emmanuel Macron, after a crisis meeting this Friday, has asserted that social networks and video game platforms "are playing an important role" in the riots of the last days and that the violence is being organized online.

Violent protests have shaken France since Tuesday after the death of a 17-year-old boy at the hands of a police officer in the city of Nanterre.

“We have seen, Snapchat, TikTok and several others, that serve as places to organize violent meetings, but there is also a form of mimicry of violence that, for some young people, leads them to lose touch with reality”, he denounced.
