Due to climate change some of the largest insurance companies are backing out of renewing thousands of home insurance policies. From those in hurricane country losing their coverage that comes from hurricanes to us in California losing our coverage due to wild fires. State Farm said in March 2024 that it wouldn’t renew around 30,000 policies for both homeowners and businesses across the state. Travelers Insurance has also reportedly dropped coverage for thousands of homes in high-risk areas. As a result, many Californians are now turning to the California FAIR Plan, which is kind of like a backup insurance option. The downside? It’s usually more expensive and doesn’t offer as much coverage as regular insurance.

Climate change is real, it is here, and it is not only destroying our world but it has given greedy evil corporations the excuse to not cover the very people who rely on their coverage.
