Friend of Vultures Phuleswari Dutta
She is Mrs. Phuleswari Dutta from Dhakuakhana, Lakhimpur, Assam. It was 1989, when a pair of vulture nested in her homestead. She ignored suggestions from fellow villagers to get rid of them, nurtured them challenging superstitions and now her homestead is a nesting site of vultures. She has devoted herself to the services of the "nature's sweepers"! We salute this devoted "XAGUN BANDHOI" ( Friend of Vultures) on the occassion of World Wildlife Day.
