Can You Fix My Africa?
A couple of years ago I was asked by a charity to provide a 1.5 metre-square banner of this cartoon to be displayed on stage at an event.
I spent a fortune getting it made, only for it to be canned a few days before the event because according to the organisers, one of the sponsors deemed it to be "condescending" towards Africans who are "capable of fixing their own Africa".
I asked for an explanation and to be reimbursed for the outlay but never heard back from them, and I've been puzzled ever since why they were even holding a charity event for Africa in the first place.
