Benjamin Netanyahu, Yahya Sinwar and the Killing of Peace

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar are perpetuating an ongoing cycle of violence where Israel's oppression of Palestinians leads to Palestinian terrorism against Israelis. This pushes Israelis to the Right and leads to greater retribution and oppression of the Palestinians, which further radicalizes Palestinians and leads to more brutal forms of terrorism.

When Hamas kills, brutalizes and rapes innocent Israeli civilians on October 7, Israelis kill a far larger number of innocent Palestinian civilians as an act of revenge.

And the hopes for peace between Israelis and Palestinians seems more and more impossible.

A United Nations independent human rights body found that both Hamas and Israeli authorities are both guilty of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 and the subsequent Israeli military operations in Gaza.

The U.N. Commission emphasized that both the attack in Israel and Israel’s subsequent military operation in Gaza should not be seen in isolation.

“The only way to stop the recurring cycles of violence, including aggression and retribution by both sides, is to ensure strict adherence to international law,” it stressed.

“That includes ending the unlawful Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory; discrimination, oppression and the denial of the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, and guaranteeing peace and security for Jews and Palestinians.”
